    Christy has served as the Trauma Prevention Coordinator for UC Davis Health since 2007. Prior to joining the program, she worked for 17 years as a clinical nurse in trauma, emergency and critical care areas of the hospital and as a flight nurse with the Life Flight air medical program. Her nursing experience encompasses care of all ages from neonatal to geriatrics populations.
    Dr. Adams focuses program injury prevention efforts on building capacity through collaboration and empowering underserved communities to improve safety. She has successfully expanded outreach and developed community partnerships in multiple areas of injury prevention including senior fall prevention, traffic safety, youth violence intervention, and childhood safety.
    Her professional service includes contributions to local, state and national injury prevention efforts. She is a member of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant advisory committee, the California Strategic Highway Safety Plan Challenge Area #1 workgroup, and the CDPH Crash Medical Outcomes Data advisory committee. In 2017 she convened and currently coordinates the California Hospital-based Injury Prevention Coordinators network for professionals at trauma centers across the state. Dr. Adams is the chair for the American Trauma Society (ATS) Injury Prevention Committee.

    Description: The UC Davis Medical Center (UCDMC) Wraparound Hospital-based Violence Intervention Program (HVIP) extends care of violently injured youth and young adults beyond the health care setting to support long-term healing and safety by providing these patients with relationship-based mentoring, referrals to culturally-affirming professional mental health care, and intensive, individualized case management to address root causes of, and risk and protective factors for, violence.
